Kelahirandan tempat diasuhnya al-Habib Umar bin Abdul Rahman al-Attas. Beliau dilahirkan di desa Lisk dekat dengan desa Ainat, di bahagian bawah negeri Hadhramaut, di akhir abad ke-10, tepatnya pada tahun 229H. Sejak kecilnya beliau diasuh dan dididik oleh ayah beliau sendiri, al-Habib Abdul Rahman bin Aqil.
